As you travel around New England you’ll see hundreds of projects E.T.& L. Corp. has completed. We often feel a bit of nostalgia for the places we’ve worked and people we’ve met along the way. Here’s a small sampling of those past projects.

 
In September of 2016, E.T.& L. Corp. was awarded a $1.6 million contract by the City of Northampton. The contract is for the reconstruction of the River Road retaining wall and a portion of the supported roadway. River Road runs adjacent to Mill River and contains the Town of Williamsburg's sanitary sewer interceptor line. The Columbia Greenway Rail Trail is a multi use recreational trail in Westfield MA which, when completed, will join the City of Westfield with the Southwick Rail Trail and the Farmington Valley Greenway in Connecticut. Eventually, the trail will extend northward from the Westfield River to connect to the Manhan Rail Trail in Southampton and Easthampton and the Norwottuck Rail Trail in Northampton. E.T.& L. The Town of Sudbury awarded a $2.1 million contract to E.T.& L. Corp. to improve the important intersection of Hudson Road, Old Sudbury Road (Route 27) and Concord Road in the picturesque historic Sudbury Center District. This project was designed to improve traffic flow as well as vehicular and pedestrian safety while maintaining the quaint charm of this town center location. In August 2014, the City of Marlborough, aided by a MassWorks Infrastructure Grant, awarded E.T.& L. Corp. a $3.2 million contract for the reconstruction of Simarano Drive, a vital roadway in the city’s southwest corner. The Simarano Drive area is home to many businesses, including Quest Diagnostics, TJX Companies corporate headquarters, as well as a mixed-use development which includes an apartment complex, restaurants, retail space and a Hilton Garden Inn. In 1929, the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) donated 1,020 acres to the Commonwealth for a state forest in Goshen, MA. Since then, more than 750 additional acres have been acquired to include Upper and Lower Highland Lakes, which offer a popular swimming beach, camp sites, a shady picnic area and a group picnic pavilion. Under a $960,000 contract with the Montague Airport Commission, E.T.& L. Corp. will be undertaking an improvement project at the Turners Falls Municipal Airport. Construction work is anticipated to begin in the Spring of 2015 and is scheduled to be complete in a short 35 days. Nashoba Road in Littleton MA will be reconstructed from its intersection with Nagog Hill Road down to Route 2A at the Acton town line by E.T.& L. Corp. for the Town of Littleton under a $1.5 million contract. Full depth reconstruction of approximately 5,900 feet of road, removal of all existing pavement and existing drainage culverts are part of the work. In February 2014, E.T.& L. Corp. was awarded Phase II of the Holyoke Canal Walk project by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The Canal Walk is a 9,000 foot long pedestrian walkway along the First and Second Level Canals in the center of the Canal Arts & Industry District in historic downtown Holyoke. This project in the Town of Lancaster, Massachusetts consists of improvements at the Five Corners Intersection (High Street Extension / Bolton Road (Route 110) / Center Bridge Road / Old Common Road / South Bolton Road). In February 2014, E. T. & L. Corp was awarded the Green River Covered Bridge Rehabilitation contract with the Town of Greenfield, MA. The existing bridge was rebuilt in 1972 and recently suffered significant damages from Hurricane Irene in August 2011. The bridge is a wooden covered bridge founded on a concrete abutment on the east side and a field stone abutment on the west side. The project will begin with the removal of the existing bridge structure using two 300-ton hydraulic cranes.…

In December 2013, E. T. & L. Corp was awarded the Wickham Hill Water Storage Basin Improvement contract by The MDC.  Located in East Hartford, the Wickham Hill facility is part of the MDC’s system that provides drinking water to 400,000 customers in the Greater Hartford area.  The facility consists of two underground storage basins with a combined capacity of 4.5 million gallons. The Connecticut Department of Transportation awarded E.T.& L. Corp. this $4.5 million bridge replacement contract in June 2013.  The project consists of the replacement of two existing bridges over the Succor Brook on Route 82 in the Town of East Haddam, CT.  The bridges are being replaced with precast concrete rigid frame structures on cast-in-place concrete foundations.  Preparatory work began in the fall of 2013; the major work will start in the spring of 2014 when Route 82 will be…
E.T. & L. Corp. was awarded the Hartford Landfill contract by the Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority in June 2013. The project requires a 35 acre closure turf cap over the existing landfill, drainage improvements, a supplemental gas system, and the installation of a 1 megawatt photovoltaic system.  The closure turf cap is a two-part system that consists of the installation of a 50 mil spiked HDPE liner and an artificial turf surface. E.T.&L. Corp was awarded the MassDOT contract for the replacement of the bridge spanning the Lawrence River on Northeast Fitzwilliam Road. Work for this contract includes the replacement of the existing steel girder bridge with a precast arch bridge. Fitch’s Bridge over the Nashua River, in the Town of Groton, MA, was built in 1898 by the Berlin Iron Bridge Company (Berlin, CT) and was shipped to its current location. The 126 foot long double-intersection Warren Truss bridge was used by pedestrians and vehicles for over 65 years until it was closed to traffic in the mid 1960’s due to heavy deterioration. E.T.& L. This project consists of removing the existing bridge to the Transfer Station in Weston, MA, and replacing it with a prestressed, precast concrete bridge. The bridge span is approximately 33 foot long x 16 foot wide with a metal bridge railing running on each side. This 3.5 year, $36.2 million project for MassDOT in Deerfield, Massachusetts was awarded to J.F. White Contracting Co. in May, 2012. The project includes the replacement of 2 bridges on Interstate 91 (northbound and southbound) over the Deerfield River and Stillwater and Lower Roads. In June 2012, the Connecticut Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) awarded E.T.& L. Corp. a $2.6 million contract for the rehabilitation of the West Hartford Reservoir No. 2 Dam and Dikes.
