Marlborough - Simarano Drive Reconstruction

In August 2014, the City of Marlborough, aided by a MassWorks Infrastructure Grant, awarded E.T.& L. Corp. a $3.2 million contract for the reconstruction of Simarano Drive, a vital roadway in the city’s southwest corner. The Simarano Drive area is home to many businesses, including Quest Diagnostics, TJX Companies corporate headquarters, as well as a mixed-use development which includes an apartment complex, restaurants, retail space and a Hilton Garden Inn.

The work of this project includes roadway reconstruction and some widening of the one mile plus roadway from just north of Forest Street down to Cedar Hill Street, excluding about 900 feet at the I-495 ramp area of the road, which will be a future project. Installation of new curbing and sidewalks, a five foot wide bike lane, extensive drainage improvements, and traffic signal upgrades are other items on the project list.

Work on the project began in October 2014 and, after a winter shutdown period, resumed in April and is on schedule for completion by the end of the summer of 2015.
