In August 2011, E.T.& L. Corp. received the contract for a MassDOT bridge rehabilitation project in Chicopee, MA. The I-90 bridge located over Route I-391 was in desperate need of repair, but because of its location along the busy Massachusetts Turnpike, could not undergo a full reconstruction. E.T.& L. began the first of three construction phases in October 2011. Keeping limited traffic open in both directions throughout, the full scope of work includes: replacement of the reinforced cement concrete bridge decks, the current expansion joints with elastomeric strip seal joint system, east and west abutment encasements, the current guard rail median with single-faced concrete median, as well as localized repair and painting of structural steel and repair of deteriorated areas of the substructure. The project is slated for completion in January 2013.
