Gilbertville Bridge - Hardwick-Ware, MA

For this Massachusetts Department of Transportation project, E.T.& L. Corp. improved the structural integrity of a wooden, covered bridge circa 1898. Because of its status as a national historic landmark, the project was designed to protect and preserve the existing wooden structure. Most significantly, six steel girders and crash-tested timber bridge rails were installed, restoring the bridge for safe vehicular and truck traffic. This $1.9 million contract was completed ahead of schedule in the fall of 2010.
