Southwick - Shurtleff Brook Bridge

Spring of 2018, E.T.& L. Corp. was awarded a $600,000 job in Southwick, MA to replace the Shurtleff Brook Bridge on North Loomis Street. The bridge, which was originally constructed in or around 1914, was found to have several deficiencies at the time of its most recent inspection, and will be replaced with a new bridge that will meet federal and state guidelines. The new bridge will accommodate 2-way vehicular traffic, with shoulders for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. The bridge replacement was carried out using a roadway closure with detour and accelerated bridge construction techniques during several weeks in August of 2018. The completed bridge and roadway needed to be open to two lanes of traffic no later than August 26, 2018, before public school begins for the new school year.
