In December of 2018, E.T. & L. Corp was awarded the contract to rehabilitate four earthen embankment dams at Middle Pond in Taunton, Massachusetts. The project is located within Massasoit State Park, and the Department of Conservation and Recreation administered the project. The scope of work consisted of clearing, inlet structure improvements at Dams #1 and #3, decommission and abandonment of the outlet works at Dams #2 and #4. The earthen dams have been reshaped, including installation of filter material, topsoil, and rip rap. Concrete repairs at Dams #1 and #3 were performed, and a cast-in-place headwall extension was installed at Dam #1. A temporary cofferdam was constructed to facilitate the replacement of stop logs and channels at Dam #1, as well as stop gates and channels at Dam #3. Approximately 2,500’ of ADA compliant stone dust and stabilized aggregate walking paths were constructed on the crest of the dam, as well as a pathway to the beach. The project also included construction of park features such as picnic areas, benches, and a wildflower garden.
