E.T. & L. Corp. was low bidder on a project for the City of Springfield Department of Public Works. The $3 million project was for the rehabilitation of the Springfield Flood Protection System along the Connecticut River. The work was located in four (4) major locations along 5 ½ miles of the east bank of the Connecticut River within the City of Springfield.  The work involved in this project included concrete floodwall repairs of approximately 800 linear feet of flood damage reduction channels, including stone masonry and brick repairs, the capping of approximately 20 feet of floodwall, removal and reconstruction of approximately 310 linear feet of deteriorated snow dump parapet wall and replacement of 60 linear feet of deteriorated floodwall. Work also includes the addition of fill for surface drainage grading away from floodwalls for about 4,550 linear feet, and 1.6 acres of tree clearing. Precast manholes and nearly 4,500 linear feet of 8” subdrain were replaced along the existing floodwall.  A section of 8″ subdrain remains to be installed.  This section is designed to be pipe rammed under the active railroad tracks to discharge into the nearby outlet.
