Location: WALTHAM, MA

The Demolition and Construction of the Wayside Trail Project in Waltham, MA consists of altering approximately 2.75 miles of an abandoned section of MBTA railroad tracks and constructing a shared use path for pedestrian and bicycle use. The project abuts a completed section of shared use path near the Weston Town Line and continues east to the Belmont Town Line. Once finished, this segment of path will become a part of the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s Mass Central Rail Trail which will be a 104-mile long shared use path connecting Boston, MA to Northampton, MA. The project’s scope of work includes clearing and grubbing, steel rail and timber tie removal, earthwork cuts and fills, signalized intersections, timber bridge and culvert demolition/ construction, geosynthetic reinforced soil (GRS) walls, precast concrete retaining walls with drilled shafts, landscaping, timber rail fencing, and site furnishings. The project is anticipated to be completed in the Summer of 2023.
