In April, 2020, E.T.& L. Corp. was low bidder on a MassDOT project in West Brookfield to replace the Foster Hill Road bridge over Coys Brook. This $2 million project included the demolition of the existing bridge and the construction of a new single span bridge. The new bridge is comprised of hot mix asphalt overlay on reinforced concrete deck with spread deck beams supported by reinforced concrete integral abutments with steel piles. Also included was approach roadway reconstruction, milling and overlay, profile adjustment, roadway embankment work, retaining wall, highway guardrail, water line relocation, safety elements, and an expansive sheet pile cofferdam. A temporary pedestrian bridge was constructed and maintained during the demolition of the existing bridge and the construction of the permanent bridge. The temporary pedestrian bridge was removed after construction of the bridge.
